Local Game for Local People



A publication produced hand-in with locals from Ashbourne, UK. Documenting their tradition Shrovetide, a two day medieval football match played by the whole town- "It means more to use than Christmas" particularly its role in developing regional identity and sense of community. Including interviews with previous mayors, local children, archive material, as well as the passed down craft of custom painted balls for the game each year.



A screenprinted scarf designed to accompany the publication, using lyrics and the river around which the game revolves as a visual motif.



Screenprint ephemera documenting the 2024 game acting as a thank you for people’s contributions towards the publication, produced in mass to fit a envelope, enabling easy distribution.
